Reuse those Plastic Milk Bottles

Recycling is a great thing but if you can reuse, before recycling, that’s even better. Here are some ideas for finding a secondary use for all those plastic milk bottles.

Money box:-  Use as a child’s money box by leaving on top and cutting a coin sized slit in top of bottle. get your child to decorate with stickers or paint..

Party Lights:-  Cut the tops off, fill with sand and place tea lights inside for a festive feeling. Paint to create a festive or colour coordinated theme.

Wool Holder:-  Cut off the top of bottle so a ball of wool can just fit through. Place wool through handle. This is guaranteed to stop frustrating tangles.

Plastic Bag Holder:-  Cut a slit in side of bottle and fill with plastic bags. When bags are needed pull out of top.

Lint Collector:-  Cut a hole out of the side of the bottle. Use in laundry to store lint from dryer. When full recycle lint in worm farm.

Separator:-  Cut out circles from plastic and use to separate frozen meat patties etc when freezing.

Toilet Brush Holder:-  Use a plastic bottle with a section cut out to hold toilet brush up-right.

Solar Heater:-  In summer, fill bottles with water and place in sun. Use hot water to wash dishes etc.

Seedling Pots:-  Lay on side, cut along top and poke drainage holes in bottom. Use as seed starters.

Candle Holder:-  Cut off bottom portion. Fix candle with melted wax to inside of lid. You have an instant candle holder for outside, complete with handle!

Water Containers for Chickens:-  Lay on side and cut top portion away. Retain screw-top. These make great waterers for chickens as they can’t flick dirt into or tip over.

Chicken Feeders:-  Hang by handle on side of coop. Cut round hole midway-up container, fill with grain. The chickens can feed from containers but are unable to waste food by scratching or pooping in it.

Funnel:-  Remove top and cut away base. Great as funnel.

Beach Toys:-  Cut jug in half. Shape as a scoop with handle. The other end can be a sand mold.

Watering Can:-  Drill some fine holes in the screw top, fill with water and invert to water. Great watering can for the kids to use.

Snail Fence:-  This is to fence the snails out, not in! Cut bottom and top off bottle and then cut into 5cm high sections. Slide section over small seedling in garden to act as a barrier to marauding snails.
